World’s Largest Gambling Company Discloses Hack Affecting 800,000 Users – IP Addresses, Emails and Online Activity Exposed

Online gambling giant Flutter Entertainment says hundreds of thousands of users are affected by a massive hack on its subsidiaries.

Flutter, which owns gambling sites Betfair and Paddy Power, disclosed that up to 800,000 customers have had their personal information exposed due to a third-party breach, the Irish Times reports.

In an email to customers in Ireland and Britain, Flutter said it had “recently detected that an unauthorised third party [gained access] to limited betting account information” relating to some of its customers.

The breach involved customers’ usernames, email addresses and IP addresses, but in certain cases, address details were also exposed.

Flutter told customers that the hack involved “details of some recent activity on your account and technical data like your device ID and IP address”.

“The nature of this incident means that regrettably, some of your personal information has been impacted.”

A spokesperson for the company told the Irish Times that no passwords, ID documents or usuable card or parment details were impacted.

The company now says that “the unauthorised access has been removed and the incident contained” and that an investigation found that the “affected information was isolated to limited betting account information”.

Flutter also promises a full investigation and to examine how to prevent any similar breaches from occurring in the future.

Flutter Entertainment is the largest online betting company, with a market cap of $50.6 billion, and revenue of $14.05 billion in 2024.
